We seek to be biblical in our church leadership.
Christ is the only Head of this church (and any true church).
(Colossian 1:18a)
All church members are equals, brothers and sisters in Christ, and
have equal standing before the Father as priests. We cannot and
should not go through any man or priest to get to God, except Jesus
Christ. So as a congregation we stand on equal ground with no
"special" super-Christian leaders. (Galatians 3:28; 1 Peter 2:9; 1
Timothy 2:5)
However, the Bible also teaches that there are leaders in each
church who meet biblical qualifications and have been called by God
and recognized by the church to oversee the flock. The Bible
commands us to obey, follow and submit to these leaders. (1 Timothy
3:1-13; Titus 1:5-9; Hebrews 13:7,17; 1 Peter 5:1-5)
We have overseers (elders, bishops - same word in the Bible) who
lead the church as servants, examples, teachers. CCC has relegated
decision-making abilities to our overseers so that every little
decision doesn't have to come before the entire body. Larger
decisions do. We have a pastor-teacher, who is one of the overseers
and is accountable to them. We have a deacon, who biblically
leads in matters of service.
We believe in raising up our own leaders, rather than searching for
them from outside our church body. We must constantly be training
new leaders. If something were to happen to our pastor or overseers,
CCC must continue in the same vision, the same doctrine, the same
call of Christ. God is faithful to raise up these leaders, and we
give Him praise.
Overseers: Cary Cox, Jeff Mullins, Steve Wingo.
